About

Actor. Academic

Head and shoulders of smiling woman with piercing blue eyes, silver hair, cradling cheek in palm of one hand

I began acting at university, in several productions culminating in a play during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Around 1993, I shifted to work behind the scenes, and then a career shift.

In 2017, I resumed through voice acting, primarily narrating audiobooks. Working alongside well-known actors inspired me to step out from behind the mic, testing myself in 2022 with a theatre play that gained awards and accolades. I continue  to hone my skills through workshops and courses, and am now a versatile actor , known for my voice, character work and accents.

That career change mentioned above from a lifelong love of fashion and textiles. I retrained in fashion, increasingly specialising in textile print design, culminating in my doctorate but not ending there. My practical and  theoretical research continues into two-dimensional pattern (as in on textiles or wallpaper) as a form combines the ideas of pattern and place, considering the sites that pattern can be printed on, (not only textiles or wallpaper), the place that printed pattern can create, and ultimately how pattern interacts with a viewer.
